Best Labor Day Light Shows & Attractive RV Destinations

RV enthusiasts across the country may assume that the Fourth of July is the best and perhaps the only, chance to see some really terrific fireworks and other awesome nighttime light shows. But just because it’s the end of the summer travel season doesn’t mean there’s not some spectacular shows to be seen across this great country of ours.

Apparently, lighting up the night sky during early July comes from our country’s very first Independence Day celebration way back in 1777. According to the Huffington Post, during the midst of the Revolutionary War against Britain, American citizens came together to watch their new nation’s sky illuminated in a grand display which was meant to raise spirits in our budding country.

In this light (pardon the pun), there are many summertime shows to be seen across our great nation during our last-ditch effort to see end of our hot August nights turn into cool Autumn evenings. While many of us are enjoying our last weekend of the summer, check out this list of some of the best local light shows from all over the US:


Boston is Awesome

The Boston Discovery Guide shares their annual calendar of summer-end events that showcases seasonal year-end events that including what they call a “perfect combination” of fireworks over the harbor and a variety of other fun activities. In addition to the huge Labor Day Weekend fireworks display, check out the Boston Arts Festival, drop by the Italian Saints Feasts and Festivals in Boston’s North End. The Deutsche Bank sponsors the PGA Golf Tournament held in Norton, along with Odyssey’s and Spirit of Boston’s special dinner cruises. The Mass Brewers Fest will be happening along with other special family programs aboard the historic USS Constitution.

Disney’s Spring Break in the Fall

Many locations in Florida, including Orlando, have been well-known for their famous Spring Break parties, but who better to count on for an awe-inspiring fireworks display than Disney. In addition to their nightly sparkling show in the sky above Cinderella’s castle, guests at Disneyworld can also enjoy the Universal’s Island of Adventure, tons of looping roller coasters rides, amazing attractions and there’s also plenty of shows and interactive exhibits like the Butterbeer tasting atThe Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

A Windy City Winner

Chicago is another home to a sparkling nighttime show displayed on Labor Day. They boast their second-to-the-last fireworks display of the that transpires on this labor-free day showcasing a summertime staple in the windy city. The Chicago Navy Pier lights up the sky annually with this highly anticipated event that is accompanied by other yearly events like the popular Chicago Jazz Festival and the North Coast Music Festival that both take place over the holiday weekend.

Sin Cincinnati Certainly Won’t Be Left Out in the Cold

Home of the Reds and Bengals, they blast their colors and strips proudly into the air at their annual Labor Day extravaganza. During their popular Riverfest celebration, presented by the Cincinnati Bell in association with the Western & Southern WEBN Fireworks display organization, make your way along the river to watch this sparkling display. While you’re in town, enjoy Shakespeare in the Park, summer concerts in the park, the symphony summer series and other great outdoor events.
